SUMMARY:An evening of original soul rock music with AMELIA RAY!
DESCRIPTION:DIRECT FROM THE NATIONAL WOMEN'S MUSIC FEST\n\n\n\nAMELIA RAY: Bringing intricate\, rhythmic and emotional musical stories full of characters as raw\, confused and contradictory as we all are!\n\n\n\n"Amelia Ray is The Beatles' long lost soul sister." - jazz musician Rob Bargad\n\nAmelia Ray: a writer\, composer\, filmmaker\, performer and proud amalgam of every person she has ever met\, knows there is always more than one way to tell a story. As a polyglot\, she has spent decades examining how similar concepts are expressed differently across languages and cultures.\n\nRay's influences range from Jacques Brel to Black Sabbath\, and echoes of Jonatha Brooke\, Jellyfish\, Kenny Loggins and The Clark Sisters can be heard throughout her 30-year discography. Her ability to create sonic connections between seemingly unrelated artists and genres became evident with MashUpheaval - a podcast that saw Ray creating mashups of songs by artists as varied as Lady Gaga with System of a Down and Nelly with Blind Faith.\n\nRay brings her unique music to the Bay Area after living and performing in France\, Spain and the Netherlands. She most recently appeared at the National Women's Music Festival.\n\n\n\nAmelia's Website is: AmeliaRay.net\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNOTE: This event is being organized by a group of long time lesbian activists. The Chamber is supporting the event by handling tickets. We hope everyone will come and support Amelia Ray!
